Business Money April 2010 Our seventh all-asset finance conference, held at the CBI Conference Centre in London, had the best agenda I have yet compiled if the feedback forms are to be believed but a week beforehand I was worried. Three of our speakers had to fly here from America and volcanic ash was playing havoc with schedules. In the event, 97 delegates, including senior personnel from 16 lenders, were treated to a, drinks and lunch apart, non-stop sequence of high quality presenters who tackled the pressing issues affecting ABL. One highlight was an open debate on whether the clearing banks are replacing specialist all-asset lenders in the UK. John Bevan, Simon Featherstone, Paul Noel, Jeff Longhurst, Steven Chait, David Kelsey and Alison Small contributed to a lively session. Given that busy people can sometimes only partake for some of the day the fact that close to 60 were still there at the end for Andrew Knight’s highly praised brief on uniform documentation for syndicated deals says it all. The fruits of the gathering are for those who paid and attended: 97% said they would return next year. Note the date 7 April 2011. Editor |
