Great Southern Business Money Commercial Finance Dinner If last year’s event, in the teeth of the credit crunch was a subdued affair, this year’s was a triumph. A more central location, The Thistle Marble Arch, may have helped as the event drew almost 300 people and the hotel team put on a professional performance. The food and service was excellent and, mindful that at London dinners people have trains to catch, timely too. Guests of honour were Maurice Craft, chairman of the ABFA, and his wife Hilary, Brian Capon from the BBA and Adam Tyler from the NACFB. The raffle in aid of the work done by The Lords Taverners raised £3,000 and Business Money editor, Robert Lefroy, took time to highlight the Herculean efforts of Hilary Craft who has raised £350,000 for Leukaemia research and the duo of Carole Roe and Helen McKenzie who have raised £500,000 for ChildLine. He added a serious note warning those present that organised advance fee fraud is rampant once more. Comedian Lea Roberts had our ribs aching with non-stop laughter. A substantial number of guests did not have trains to catch that night and ensured that the bar staff were kept busy until the wee small hours. Editor |
