1 in 3 Brits consider moving to higher paying jobs amid cost of living crisis
As the cost of living continues to rise, Brits are being forced to consider new job opportunities as a way of improving their financial stability. A survey conducted by admin and temping recruitment agency Oriel Partners reveals that 1 in 3 Brits have considered changing jobs in order to increase their salaries. The survey also found that 58% of adults are cutting down on gas and electricity use due to affordability concerns, while 76% of respondents have been affected by the Cost of Living crisis with 25-39 year olds being most impacted (81%).
“It is concerning to hear that so many people in the UK are struggling financially,” said Olivia Coughtrie, Director of Oriel Partners. “The Cost of Living crisis is having a real impact on people’s lives and it is clear that more needs to be done in order to support those affected.”
Of the respondents surveyed, 27% indicated they were “very worried” about the Cost of Living crisis and 52% reported having some concerns. As a result, 26% using savings for bills; 15% selling valuables/unneeded items to reduce spend; 27% considering changing jobs to improve financial stability; 9% aged 25-39 needing to change jobs and 35% Londoners considering job change.
In a separate study conducted by London-based storage company, Storage X, one in four UK-based adults have seen an increase in their monthly rent or mortgage costs due to the Cost of Living crisis, with 12% of Londoners having been forced to consider moving home in response to rising costs.
Oriel Partners’ survey results demonstrate how far reaching the impacts of the Cost of Living crisis are across all demographics. It is clear that individuals are taking action independently in order to manage their finances during this difficult period.
