A guide to working from home in 2022
We are well on our way into 2022, and despite restrictions lifting around the world and the pandemic seemingly not headline news anymore, working from home has planted its roots. In fact, it has been suggested that a hybrid way of working (part in the office, part out of the office) will be many employees’ choice of moving forward – if they get one.
Employees from all over the world have proved they can do their jobs competently, if not better, with the option of working from home, so let us take a look at what it has in store for us in 2022.
Create a routine
Depending on what your job is and whether you are working 9-5, you might already have a routine in place and know that you have to be at your desk for 9 am on the dot, even if you are not dressed from the waist down. However, if you have far more wiggle room when it comes down to deadlines or when you have to be at your desk, you might find yourself watching that extra episode on Netflix or sleeping in a few more hours.
Make no mistake, these are very much the perks of being freelance or working from home, but not having a routine can really throw things off course or out of balance.
If you cannot give yourself a hard plan, then at least create a loose-fitting agenda to help keep track of how you spend and manage your time.
Create a space that’s for work
The last thing you want to be doing is living at work rather than working from home, which is exactly what can happen if you are not able to create yourself some boundaries, and this includes physically!
There will be some times that you work from your bed (that is just one of the perks), but having a designated space for work is important to help get you into the right working mindset and also allow you to get out of it too when it is time to wind down.
Not everyone has the room for a home office, so it is up to you how you manage this. If you find that you struggle to create that line, then why not consider hot desking? It is an ideal solution for those who want something completely separate from home but also do not want the costs or contracts of renting somewhere. Head over to thebrew.co.uk to find out more.
Invest in the right tech and tools
There is nothing worse than being slowed down by having an out-of-date laptop or a chair that hurts your back. Creating the right setup will significantly contribute to your success by helping your comfort and productivity – both of which can help you save time.
Having an ergonomic keyboard could also be helpful for those who are typing all day, and do not forget to choose a supportive office chair!
