Bars and restaurants see 41% uplift in spending on bank holidays
With the second May bank holiday fast approaching, new data from Airtime Rewards reveals that spending in bars and restaurants on bank holiday Mondays in 2023 was 41% higher than regular Mondays.
Josh Graham, co-founder, Airtime Rewards said: “For the majority of UK consumers, Mondays are reserved for working, life admin or exercise. Immediately following the weekend, they aren’t the most popular day for socialising. But bank holidays are a totally different ball game, with spending up 41% in bars and restaurants across bank holiday Mondays in 2023. With the sun finally making an appearance this month, hospitality venues will be planning ahead to the second bank holiday of May, strategising how to attract customers and get feet through the door.
“Creating exceptional experiences and offering great deals will be fundamental not only to getting them in on 27 May, but encouraging them to come back in the future. Venues should also consider loyalty schemes, to give customers the opportunity to accrue rewards at a time when they might be cutting down on discretionary spending.”
