PrePay Solutions empowers Monese to harness Apple Pay
PrePay Solutions (PPS), subsidiary of Edenred has supported its partner, digital challenger bank, Monese, to enable the use of Apple Pay on their accounts.
Monese went live with Apple Pay in ten countries on 3rd April. Cardholders in the UK; Germany; Belgium; Denmark; Finland; Ireland; Italy; Poland; Spain; Switzerland; and Sweden can now add their cards to their Apple Wallet via both the Monese app and the Apple Wallet – an industry-first move. This makes PPS one of the largest issuers of Apple Pay, with over 40 live programmes in 14 countries which means PPS now brings Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay programmes to over 300,000 active users. Furthermore thanks to innovations such as in-app provisioning and launching across all platforms including HCE solutions, PPS has the highest utilisation rates for mobile payments in Europe.
The in-app provisioning – available to both Sterling and Euro account customers – means that not only do users get an instant bank account and virtual card, they can “add to wallet” and start paying with contactless straightaway.
As a partner of Apple, PPS has been integral in enabling Monese to incorporate Apple Pay into its account offering. This is the widest roll-out of Apple Pay that PPS has ever performed, and involved the company’s expert project team working closely with Monese on a daily basis to integrate the payment solution into the bank’s core systems, while meeting Apple’s stringent security and reliability criteria.
PPS performed extensive testing across Europe prior to roll-out to ensure that Apple Pay worked seamlessly with Monese’s existing technology, giving customers a smooth, reliable service time after time.
Speaking about the roll-out, Ray Brash, CEO at Prepay Solutions said: “Ever since we launched Europe’s first mainstream mobile payment solution with EE Cash on Tap in 2014 PPS has been a leader in mobile payments. This trend is set to continue exponentially, with more and more retailers around the world accepting contact payment methods to meet the demands of increasingly tech-savvy customers.”
Norris Koppell CEO at Monese, added: “As a challenger bank, Monese prides itself on leading the industry in providing the latest financial services to meet its customers’ evolving needs. With PPS’s expertise and comprehensive technical support, we’ve been able to go above and beyond, not just offering customers a great banking account, but the option to pay however they want as they go about their daily lives. It’s been a great experience working with PPS on this project, as always, and we look forward to continuing our partnership way into the future.”
