Southern Grove announces Mizen partnership as it secures planning consent for £5.5m London mews houses
Developer Southern Grove has secured planning permission to create a series of highly desirable mews houses in a popular residential area of north London.
The scheme, Granville Mews in leafy Finchley, has a GDV of £5.5m and is a prime example of how developers can take advantage of key infill sites to provide much-needed family housing in areas of high demand.
Last year the company began assessing the feasibility of developing greater numbers of infill sites across the capital because there are so many of them. Together, they represent a huge bank of land capable of providing hundreds of thousands of new homes and they are typically under-utilised by developers.
Most typically avoid smaller parcels of land because they feel they don’t deliver a great enough economy of scale but the speed at which such sites receive planning consent more than makes up for that. The developer has two more infill sites in the pipeline to add to its family housing portfolio.
Southern Grove has partnered with Mizen Group Co. to complete Granville Mews, and was advised by Savills.
The townhouses will all benefit from a communal courtyard and spacious three-bed, five-person accommodation, intelligently laid out by Sheffield-based Axis Architecture.
Granville Mews, located in High Rd, will replace a branch of Buildbase on a corner plot in an area that is extremely popular with young professionals and families. Finchley has built a reputation as a quiet corner of London covered in peaceful Victorian and Edwardian terraces.
Southern Grove will continue to expand the use of infill sites alongside its other large-scale residential developments of apartments, featuring hundreds of affordable homes.
