The industries likely to be at risk in 2021
2020 has been a very slow and dangerous year for everyone, but for a certain selection of industries out there, the trouble isn’t quite over yet. 2021 holds a lot of hope for the world as a whole, but we can already see a downward trend for a lot of industries over the coming 12 months. And below, we aim to shed some light on the industries that are likely to be at high risk for the foreseeable future.

Food services
People are always going to need food, yes, but restaurants and fast food joints seem to have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, in the UK specifically, being able to source and supply enough fresh ingredients for these businesses has been a real struggle.
With people being unable to eat out as often as they used to, as well as import laws and safety around the Coronavirus has kept food from entering the borders, food services may see a decline for years to come.
Automobile
2020 has seemed to severely stunt the growth of the automotive industry; with factories being closed for safety, and mass layoffs occurring around the world, as well as people having less and less need for cars thanks to lockdown rules, changes to vehicle companies could stick around for years to come.
Indeed, over 90% of German automotive companies have put their staff on short term work for the foreseeable future, which is a standard we may see more and more of in other countries in the future.
Photography
COVID-19 seems to have changed the landscape of the photography industry at its very core. Less and less bookings are being made for both big and small operations alike, and the global industry seems to have fallen by about $800 million.
However, social distance photo shoots are becoming more and more popular, and with a rise in long distance camera technology (as well as remote technology), there’s hope on the horizon for this sector. Indeed, with new initiatives like Aaduki Photographer Insurance on the market, it’s clear something good is coming for those with photography skills.
Entertainment
People are staying indoors, with the TV on to keep them entertained, but with COVID-19 keeping new shows and films from being made, is there going to be enough to watch to keep people interested in the entertainment sector for the future?
Channel budgets have been slashed across the board, and we’re now seeing repeat programs across the board. With so many jobs in the entertainment industry on the line, and many new films being rushed out to try and keep the audience around, could more accessible forms of entertainment fill the gap? The video game industry is worth billions, after all.
2021 could be a make it or break it year. No matter what industry you’re in, unique challenges are going to come, but if you’re in any of the industries above, it may be an important time to rethink your operations.
