The latest DCLG housebuilding figures
Commenting on the latest DCLG housebuilding figures, Andy Hill, chief executive at Hill, said:
“It’s encouraging to see housebuilding is on the up, as the latest DCLG figures show private housing starts increased 4% in Q2 compared to the previous quarter. The country is facing a major housing shortage, and it is more important than ever that the government supports both first time buyers and housebuilders in the coming Autumn Statement, so that we can continue to build more new homes and get more people on to the housing ladder.
“It’s particularly pleasing to see Cambridge named one of the areas leading the way, building more homes per 1,000 existing dwellings than the rest of the country. It’s not surprising to see this powerhouse city taking front of stage however. It is a place prospering with diversity and, as the city grows and transforms into an even more exciting place to live as the city becomes home to tech and pharmaceutical companies, such as AstraZeneca, Google and Microsoft, its popularity continues to grow.
“As part of our 2020 plan, Hill is seeking to add to this growing number of new homes in Cambridge by building on our already strong presence in the area, with plans to deliver more than 1,000 new homes here over the next couple of years.”
