All Jobs saved with pre-pack sale of Hampshire-based construction company
Experts from business advisory firm Quantuma have completed the sale of groundworks infrastructure and civil engineering specialist Mackoy Limited, trading as Mackoy Groundworks, out of administration. This pre-pack sale protects 20 jobs and secures the future of the business, which is based in Chandler’s Ford, Hampshire.
Quantuma’s Kelly Mitchell and Alyson Richards were appointed as joint administrators on 9 June 2026, following a six-week marketing and planning period, to enable a smooth transition. The sale saw all staff transferred to the purchaser, Geocore Civils Limited, under TUPE regulations. Geocore Civils will look to novate contracts in relation to several sites where work is ongoing, to maintain provision of services for the majority of clients.
Established in 2011, Mackoy provided groundwork, infrastructure, and civil engineering services to the UK’s leading house builders. Mackoy had established itself as one of the largest groundwork specialists operating in the South of England, providing foundations for new homes, roads and sewer systems. Turnover of the company was reported as £23.3m in 2025.
Recently, the business had experienced several challenges, including increases in the cost of materials and labour, which affected previously agreed contract pricing. This, combined with changes in buyer behaviour, had a negative impact on cashflow and profitability.

Following an accelerated sales and marketing campaign, joint administrators from Quantuma were appointed and secured the pre-pack sale of the Company.
Kelly Mitchell, joint administrator and managing director at Quantuma, commented: “I am incredibly pleased to have achieved such a positive outcome for this highly regarded business, ensuring that all employees’ jobs have been saved. We are happy to have secured the long-term viability of the business, allowing it to continue its journey. We wish the team every success in their next chapter.”
