New R3 Midlands chair promises to encourage diversity within the restructuring, turnaround and insolvency community
Monica Kapur, a solicitor and director at Isadore Goldman, has been appointed as the new chair of R3, the association for the UK’s community of restructuring, turnaround and insolvency professionals, for the Midlands region.
Monica, who succeeds Stephen Rome in the role, will represent the interests of the region’s restructuring, turnaround and insolvency professionals both locally and nationally, while supporting R3’s programme of events and member engagement activity.
Monica is Birmingham born and bred, with 19 years’ experience on contentious matters. In recent years she has developed a bespoke service for insolvency practitioners in cases concerning construction insolvency leading to the launch of IG Construct.
As the first female chair of the R3 Midlands committee, Monica is keen to use her time in the role to further encourage diversity and inclusion within the profession, in line with R3 President Sonia Jordan’s focus on broadening access and representation across the sector.
Monica’s appointment as R3 Midlands chair coincides with her opening Isadore Goldman’s new Birmingham office, strengthening its presence across the Midlands.
Speaking of her appointment, Monica said: “It’s a real privilege to take on the role of R3 Midlands chair and to build on the work of Stephen and the committee. At a time when many businesses are continuing to face cash flow pressures caused by an increase in late payments, according to R3’s latest Quarterly Business Health report, the work we do remains vital.
“I’m particularly passionate about encouraging greater diversity within the profession. There has been progress in recent years, but there is more to do, and I hope to use this role to demonstrate that the profession is open, accessible and attractive to people from a wide range of backgrounds.
“I look forward to helping ensure that R3 continues to provide a strong voice for the profession and valuable support for its members.”
