Cynergy Bank appoints Kim Rebecchi as chair
Cynergy Bank, a leading SME lender and digital-led business bank, has appointed Kim Rebecchi as chair of the Bank, following the retirement of incumbent Euan Hamilton. Rebecchi, a respected figure within the financial services sector, brings extensive experience and leadership expertise to the role as she takes on responsibility for guiding Cynergy Bank’s strategic direction and growth.
This appointment represents the latest chapter in an accomplished career spanning the banking and financial services industry. Rebecchi has built a reputation as a trusted leader, championing strong governance, sustainable growth and customer-focused banking. She has led various customer-centric initiatives and programmes, and is a regular attendee of industry events where she can speak to customers personally to learn more about their experiences.
Bringing more than four decades of experience in financial services, Rebecchi began her career in the building society sector before rising to become commercial director at Leeds Building Society, subsequently serving on the boards of several financial services organisations.
Kim prioritises customer interaction, which she sees as an important part of her role going forward. She is keen to ensure the Cynergy Bank board builds on its recent success, and is committed to engaging all stakeholders to deliver on the promises made by the bank. This ethos, and Kim’s attitudes towards a relationship-driven approach, strongly align with Cynergy Bank’s ‘Human Digital’ approach to banking, which emphasises the need for human contact to work in tandem with technology.
Kim’s appointment also reflects the increasing representation of women in senior leadership across financial services, and the broader progress being made across UK banking. Her journey is an encouraging example of leadership, determination and professional achievement in modern banking. In her new role as chair, Kim is passionate about continuing Cynergy Bank’s diversity initiatives, including promoting equal opportunities for all, as the bank continues to grow its offering for SME customers across the UK.

Commenting on her appointment, Kim Rebecchi said: “I am honoured to be appointed chair of Cynergy Bank at such an important time for the organisation. I am passionate about building strong, ambitious businesses that deliver value for customers and colleagues alike. I look forward to working with the Board and leadership team to support Cynergy Bank’s ongoing success and future ambitions.”
Nick Fahy, chief executive officer at Cynergy Bank, added: “Kim’s appointment reflects her exceptional leadership experience, strategic insight and deep understanding of the banking sector. She has made a significant contribution to the organisation already and will be an outstanding chair as we continue to deliver on our long-term strategy.”
