Bibby Financial Services appoints corporate foreign exchange manager to strengthen support for Scottish businesses
Bibby Financial Services (BFS) has appointed James Paton as corporate foreign exchange manager for Bibby Foreign Exchange (BFX), as it deepens its support for businesses operating across Scotland.
James brings a wealth of experience from the foreign exchange (FX) sector, built up over a 20-year career managing corporate accounts, with specific expertise in effective currency risk mitigation. In his previous role as relationship manager at Fexco, he advised a broad range of corporate clients on their FX and international payments strategies.
Based in Glasgow, Paton joins BFS with a well-established network of corporate relationships in the region. His appointment supports BFS’s ambition to grow the BFX business and strengthen the connection between its FX capability and wider product range, including invoice finance.
Commenting on the appointment, Niels Gooch, BFX head of sales said: “James’ appointment comes at an important time for us as we focus on the growth agenda for BFS and BFX – and particularly educating clients about the breadth of our offer. His unrivalled experience of currency risk and his established relationships will be invaluable in extending our reach within the Scottish corporate market.

Speaking about his new role, James Paton said: “Given the current fluctuating landscape of international trade, now is a key moment for Scottish importers and exporters to get ahead of the curve. That means putting FX strategies in place that will help them capitalise on opportunities as they arise. Joining BFS now, is a really exciting opportunity for me to be able to combine my existing FX expertise with a broader product range that I know will be of huge benefit to Scottish SMEs trading overseas.”
