National Payroll Week is here, celebrating the hidden backbone of British businesses
Behind every paycheque is someone who has processed that payment, worked out tax, figured out pension deductions and filed the paperwork with HMRC.
That is why this week, from 7 September to 11 September, is celebrated as National Payroll Week in honour of the unsung heroes who process your payroll.
Grunberg are leading accountants in London proving payroll support for businesses across the UK. They have spoken on the importance of having proper payroll practices in place.

Vijit Verma, payroll manager at Grunberg, said: “Having the correct payroll processes in place is important for all businesses. After all, it is one of the largest parts of running a business.
“Over recent years, payroll has become tougher on businesses, with rules and regulations constantly changing.
“The introduction of regular electronic filings and auto-enrolment for pensions has made it that much harder for businesses to complete their own payroll processes.”
A study in 2024 found that over 52% of UK companies now outsource their payroll.
Vijit said: “Outsourcing your payroll can help businesses in many ways, as having proper payroll processes in place is key to keeping your employees happy and mistakes to a minimum.
“It is also imperative that companies consider that having the correct payroll processes in place can help with their budgeting practices.
“If they understand their payroll, it allows them to see how their labour costs fit directly into their financial forecast for the year.”
There are some ways in which payroll can be managed more effectively to ensure that businesses can thrive.
Vijit added: “Completing payroll processes can be tricky for business owners, they need to ensure that they are keeping clear records, meeting deadlines and protecting their employees’ data.
“They should also be regularly auditing their payroll processes, which makes it easier to spot any potential issues or errors early.
“We understand that this can be a minefield for businesses, but we are here to support you with that.
“Getting the help of an accountant is the easiest way to ensure compliance and ease when managing payroll for businesses.”
