Moore Kingston Smith appoints David Smithson to strengthen restructuring and insolvency support in the South
Moore Kingston Smith, a leading multi-disciplinary advisory, tax and audit firm, has appointed David Smithson as a restructuring and insolvency partner, strengthening the practical support available to businesses, directors and lenders primarily across the South, as well as in London, as they navigate financial pressure and uncertainty.
David has 37 years’ experience in the profession, including 22 years as a licensed insolvency practitioner. He specialises in corporate insolvency and business advisory, including insolvency appointments, refinancing and turnaround situations.

He works primarily with SMEs and owner-managed businesses across hospitality and leisure, construction, transport, care and the charity sector. Working with colleagues across the firm’s southern offices, he will help develop new and existing client relationships and support the continued growth of Moore Kingston Smith’s restructuring and insolvency practice in the region.
Known for his open, hands-on approach, David works closely with directors, lenders and other stakeholders. He often spends time on site to understand how a business operates and the challenges it faces before helping decision-makers assess their options.
David Smithson, restructuring and insolvency partner at Moore Kingston Smith, said: “Businesses are dealing with pressure from fuel, transport and utility costs, increased payroll costs and the prospect of higher finance costs. Wider uncertainty’s also affecting confidence and investment. In those circumstances, directors need concise, honest advice and a clear plan they can trust.
“The firm’s growth and expansion into new geographic areas fit closely with my background and experience. I’m looking forward to joining a friendly and experienced team and building relationships with businesses across the region.”
Matt Meadows, managing partner at Moore Kingston Smith, said: “David’s judgement and depth of experience will be valuable to businesses facing complex decisions. He understands the pressures on owner-managed businesses and will help clients consider their options early and move forward with confidence.”
