Leading finance partner joins Eversheds Sutherland
Eversheds Sutherland has welcomed leading finance partner, Andrew Fordham, reinforcing its strategic intent to further strengthen its international Banking and Finance practice and expand its capabilities across key UK and global markets.
Andrew joins the global law firm’s Leeds office from Addleshaw Goddard and brings extensive experience advising lenders, private equity sponsors, corporates and management teams on complex financing transactions. His practice spans acquisition finance, real estate finance, asset-based lending and corporate banking matters.
Prior to joining Addleshaw Goddard, Andrew was a partner in Squire Patton Boggs’ Financial Services practice.
Widely recognised as one of the leading finance lawyers in the UK market, Andrew holds a Band 1 ranking in both legal industry directories, Chambers & Partners and Legal 500. Clients describe him as “excellent” with “an acute understanding of how to protect (our) interests and positions”. He is also praised for his ability to navigate complex transactions, with one client noting: “We could not ask for better support or for someone with a greater understanding of complex matters than Andrew Fordham”.
Andrew will work closely with partner Paul Castle and colleagues across Eversheds Sutherland’s international platform, supporting clients on domestic and cross-border transactions across a wide range of sectors and markets.
Nick Swiss, partner and international head of finance, Eversheds Sutherland, said: “Andrew is one of the most highly regarded finance lawyers in the market. His standing with clients and his consistent recognition in both Chambers and Legal 500 reflect the quality of his practice and the confidence that businesses place in his advice.
“We’re focused on building one of the leading finance teams in the market, and Andrew’s experience, client relationships and commercial approach make him an exceptional addition. We’re delighted he has chosen to join Eversheds Sutherland.”

“His appointment continues Eversheds Sutherland’s investment in its global finance offering and enhances our ability to support clients across a wide range of sectors and markets.”
“Andrew’s arrival comes at an exciting time for our Leeds office as we prepare to move to our new home at Kellstone, Aire Park in 2027. Together, these investments demonstrate our long-term commitment to Leeds and our ambition for future growth in the region.”

Andrew Fordham, partner, Eversheds Sutherland, said: “Eversheds Sutherland combines the breadth and international reach that clients need from their legal advisers with a genuinely collaborative approach. I’m excited to be joining at a time of real ambition for both the practice and the wider firm. I’m looking forward to working broadly across teams to help clients successfully respond to challenges, and capitalise on opportunities, available across multiple markets.”
