The majority of people assume that there’s only one type of bollard. As a result, they often believe that all bollards do the same thing. That’s not true, however, as there are six types of bollards, each of which has their specific uses.

Different types of bollards & how they’re used

- Fold down plastic bollards: These are similar to retractable bollards, although they don’t fold into the ground. Instead, you can fold them up easily whenever you need. They’re also available in an automatic option.
- Plastic bollards: Many people think that bollards are all made from the same materials. That’s not true, as flexible plastic bollards are quite popular. These are usually seen on roads and other areas to temporarily block access to specific areas.
- Stainless steel bollards: These are typically the more expensive bollards, as they offer a more stylish look when erected. They perform the same function as permanent bollards, but are used to give a property a more upscale look.
Each of these types will perform much better than others in certain areas. What one would be best for you depends on your needs. In many cases, a retractable option might be recommended.
That’s primarily because they’re one of the more affordable options and they can be much more versatile than the others.
