Automated payments hit new high
A new record of over 124 million payments were processed in just one day last week through Pay.UK’s Direct Debit and Bacs Direct Credit systems, a million more than the previous high set in 2018.
That’s the equivalent of 8 million payments each hour the processing window was open (15.5 hours), or just over 133,000 every minute.
Pay.UK CEO Paul Horlock said: “There has never been greater choice in the range of payment methods available to businesses and individuals – against that backdrop, our secure, simple, reliable, and convenient automated payment solutions continue to grow in popularity.”
