Baker Tilly strengthens restructuring and recovery practice in Scotland
Baker Tilly has strengthened its Restructuring and Recovery practice in Scotland with three senior hires.
Paul Dounis joins as a partner and Kevin Lamb as a director, both of whom will be based in Edinburgh, while John MacLean joins the Glasgow office as director.
They will complement the existing senior restructuring and recovery team in Scotland which includes Glasgow-based Alistair Dickson, who joined as a partner earlier this year, and Keith Anderson, a partner based in Edinburgh. All the new arrivals join Baker Tilly from Begbies Traynor.
Paul Dounis brings with him over 25 years of restructuring and insolvency experience gained in Sydney, London and Edinburgh. Paul specialises in business diagnostic reviews, developing business turnaround plans, working capital and cash management in crisis situations and exit management. Paul is also a licensed Insolvency Practitioner with experience of trading insolvency appointments across the retail, distribution and service sectors.
Kevin Lamb is an ICAS qualified chartered accountant who is a turnaround and restructuring specialist. After training with one of the Big Four firms in Aberdeen and London, Kevin moved out of practice, initially working for Starbucks Coffee before returning to Scotland to join prestige motor group Glenvarigill. Over a period of six years at Glenvarigill, he worked on a turnaround and exit programme, latterly as chief executive. In his new role, Kevin will focus on turnaround, restructuring and recovery across a number of sectors.
John Maclean, also an ICAS qualified chartered accountant, initially trained at one of the Big Four firms, where he gained experience in audit, corporate finance and management consultancy. He subsequently held a number of finance and advisory roles within the property development and banking sectors, most notably within the Bank of Scotland business support unit in Edinburgh where he was involved in developing turnaround or recovery strategies for large scale commercial or residential property companies. In his new role, he will have a particular focus on the real estate, financial services and social housing sectors.
