Bank of Ireland announces 130 specialist IT roles
Bank of Ireland has announced the recruitment of 130 technology professionals to support the delivery of its ambitious digital agenda. The new roles – which include technical architects, software developers, Engineers, specialised project managers, scrum masters and data analysts – will join the Bank’s cutting-edge in-house tech teams, strongly supporting the enhancement of digital services and offerings for all customers.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to play a strong role in Bank of Ireland’s ongoing digital transformation at a time when customer behaviours and preferences are evolving faster than ever.
Ian McLaughlin, CEO Bank of Ireland UK said: “As digital banking continues to grow at an exponential rate we are delighted to be creating opportunities for digital professionals right across the bank. Right now, we have almost half a million log-ins to our mobile app every day. And contactless transactions have increased from 70 million a year in 2017 to 170 million in 2020.
“We are investing strongly in technology and talent so that we can continue to innovate, to help us meet our customers changing needs as well as enabling us to bring new products and services to market, and develop our business into the future.”
This high-tech role recruitment drive follows Bank of Ireland’s announcement of its new ways of working, offering employees greater flexibility to work from a combination of home and office locations. Along with working from home, Bank of Ireland colleagues will have access to multiple bank buildings including a new network of agile hubs – four in the UK and 11 in Ireland – with meeting spaces and bookable desks, encouraging flexibility and enhancing work-life balance.
Ian McLaughlin concluded: “I am proud to say that at Bank of Ireland, 47% of all previously advertised IT roles have been filled by a female candidate. It is a good start but we’re very keen to not only maintain but improve upon that and would therefore strongly encourage women to look at the opportunities we have across the business and to consider a move to Bank of Ireland for the next step in their career.”
