Barclays bolsters its corporate banking real estate leadership team
Barclays Corporate Banking has announced the creation of two new senior positions in its real estate industry team, one specifically dedicated to housebuilders and the other to UK Listed Real Estate Companies, as the bank looks to drive growth in these two major areas of focus.
Pete Lowe has been appointed as head of housebuilders in a career at Barclays that has seen him work in leveraged finance and debt structuring, with the last 10 years in real estate. He will be responsible for Barclays’ relationship with a number of listed and regional housebuilders as the bank looks to continue its strong support for this key area, providing funding and banking services to assist clients in the delivery of much needed new homes in the UK.
Steve Sprigens becomes the head of UK Listed Real Estate Companies having worked across retail, investment and corporate banking divisions during his career, focusing primarily on real estate throughout that time, punctuated with periods in consulting and restructuring. He has been working with quoted companies for almost 20 years and his appointment will enable Barclays to expand its relationships with this key client base through both its corporate and investment banking businesses.
Announcing the two new appointments, Jason Constable, head of real estate at Barclays Corporate Banking, commented: “These are very important appointments for our business and our growth strategy and demonstrate our commitment to two key sub sectors of our client base as we continue to grow our presence in the UK real estate market.”
