Blick Rothenberg launches Japan Desk
Leading UK tax and advisory firm Blick Rothenberg have launched a Japan desk to assist companies and individuals from both countries to do business with each other.
The desk will be headed up by Kohtaro Hirota who joined Blick Rothenberg earlier this year and who said: “Due to increased business between Japan and the United Kingdom and the potential for much more it seemed sensible to open the desk to help clients and potential clients.”
He added: “I am passionate about bridging the business gap between UK and Japan by providing a smooth landing experience to Japanese owned enterprises and Japanese individuals in respect of their business requirements in the UK, but also to British companies and individuals who wish to do business in Japan.”
“With more than 12 years’ experience in cross border personal taxation, including expatriate global mobility as well as high-net-worth private clients, I can provide clients with UK tax compliance and advisory support ranging from preparation of tax returns, structuring advice to HR and finance professionals, pre-landing planning, global coordination, and payroll.
“In addition, my overall skillset enables me to communicate effectively with clients in their native language and tackle business cultural barriers, by working alongside different subject matter experts to give comprehensive guidance for various stages of the business cycle.”
He also said: “The desk will also become a focal point for journalists. Given my background and interest in economics, I will provide stories and ideas for press particularly in relation to the activities and expansion of Japanese companies in the UK but also about UK companies who wish to do business with japan. It will also enable journalists who are writing about business between both countries to come to the desk for assistance and quotes.”
Kohtaro previously worked in expatriate and personal tax at Deloitte (Belgium and UK), PwC and EY. He studied Economics in Tokyo and worked for a securities firm before going into the tax arena.
He is Japanese/English bilingual and fluent in French.
