Broadcasters to spotlight women in business at the UK Black Business Entrepreneurs Conference 2025
Angie Greaves and Brenda Emmanus OBE will place the spotlight on women in business during the Woman-to-Woman panel discussion at the UK Black Business Entrepreneurs Conference (BBEC) on Wednesday 25 June.
These two women, who have impressive careers as broadcasters and are advocates for women empowerment and social inclusion, are among a vast selection of esteemed speakers who will be at the highly anticipated annual conference, which has become known as a mecca for Black British entrepreneurs.
Taking place in the vibrant heart of London, at the NatWest Conference Centre in Bishopsgate, the conference will make a return for its fourth year, bringing together world-class speakers and trailblazers within business and finance, policymaking, media and publishing, spanning across the public, private, and third sectors.
The Woman-to-Woman panel discussion aims to embrace gender equality and inclusion by putting the spotlight on the unique contributions and challenges of women entrepreneurs, celebrating their achievements and fostering spaces for their continued success.
Angie Greaves radio presenter, broadcaster, and voice-over artist, best known for her work on national radio. She was the first female presenter at Capital London and the first female drivetime DJ on London radio. She has since gone on to host shows on Magic Radio, BBC Radio London and Smooth Radio.
Angie’s influence extends beyond the airwaves. She is a passionate advocate for women’s advancement and empowerment, actively participating in initiatives aimed at promoting diversity and supporting women in media. Brenda Emmanus OBE is a distinguished broadcaster and journalist renowned for her extensive career in arts, culture, and entertainment reporting. She began her career as Arts and Features editor at The Voice newspaper, the UK’s only national Black newspaper.
Her transition to broadcasting was marked by co-presenting BBC One’s The Clothes Show, a flagship fashion program that attracted over 10 million viewers. Over an impressive 18-year tenure at the BBC, she served as the Arts, Culture, and Entertainment Correspondent, delivering insightful coverage across various platforms.
Beyond Brenda’s broadcasting achievements, she has been committed to mentoring and supporting women in business and the arts, having facilitated workshops at the UN Commission for the Status of Women and co-facilitated The One Retreat, a biannual event aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs.
Swimming against the current of anti-DEI policy changes in the wider economy, the Woman-to-Woman segment of the event highlights The BBEC’s aim to address the intersectional impact of race and gender on Black female founders and echo the recommendations made in Dr Carlton Brown’s Black Entrepreneurs Report.
Dr. Carlton Brown, founder of The BBEC, expressed his admiration, saying, “It is a true privilege to welcome such inspiring changemakers to the conference. Each of them has had an outstanding career and continues to be a powerful advocate for change, shaping the next generation and society as a whole. We are truly honoured to have them with us.”
In a tumultuous society where businesses are having to adapt to rapid economic and technological changes, and a political climate where diversity, equity and inclusion are at risk, The BBEC offers expert insights and life-changing connections that can transform attendees’ entrepreneurial journeys.
As excitement for the UK Black Business Entrepreneurs Conference 2025 builds, more headline speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.
