Cardiff’s TourHub raises £3m as sales grow close to 40% last year
Welsh travel-tech company, founded during the pandemic and trading since 2023, invests in its platform, marketing and operator network
TourHub, the Cardiff-headquartered online marketplace for group and adventure tours, has raised £3 million after growing sales by close to 40% to £23m last year and selling £45m since the company launched.
The round combines equity from existing investors, including the Development Bank of Wales, Waterspring Ventures and a group of business angels, with long-term debt provided by Finstock Capital. The funding will be invested in technology and platform enhancements, international marketing, and growing the number of tour operators selling through TourHub.
Founded in Cardiff during the Covid-19 pandemic, TourHub began full trading at the start of 2023. It now lists more than 15,000 tours from 750 tour operators worldwide and sells to travellers in the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia, so it doesn’t depend on a single consumer market.
TourHub’s typical customer is in their 60s, half travel solo, and is predominantly female: experienced travellers who want guided, social trips without organising every detail. The average trip value is £3,700.
Experiential travel, from small-group and adventure tours to guided cultural journeys, is one of travel’s fastest-growing segments, yet much of it is still booked offline. TourHub is building a trusted place to book these trips online, giving operators access to international demand they couldn’t reach on their own.
The investment will fund:
- Platform and technology enhancements, including search, booking and operator tools
- Expanded marketing across the US, Canada, the UK and Australia
- More tour operators on the platform, targeting 1,000 by 2027
- New jobs at TourHub’s Cardiff headquarters
Seamus Conlon, founder and CEO of TourHub, said: “Demand for experiential travel is buoyant. Even through a turbulent period for travel, we grew close to 40% last year to £23 million in sales, because we sell to travellers across the US, Canada, the UK and Australia rather than relying on any one market. This investment brings more of that demand to our operator partners, and builds a world-class travel business here in Wales.”

Tom Linney, investment executive at the Development Bank of Wales, said: “TourHub has made strong progress since our first investment, growing its international reach and building a platform that connects travellers with a wide range of experiences. This third round of funding demonstrates our continued support for Seamus and the team as they build on that momentum and create further skilled jobs in Cardiff. Our latest equity investment, from the Wales Flexible Investment Fund, will help TourHub strengthen its technology, expand its operator network and reach more customers in key markets.”
Edo Salvesen, director of Finstock Capital, said: “We are delighted to support the management team with its ambitious plans to grow through alternative debt finance together with its equity shareholders.”
TourHub’s growth is overseen by an experienced board. Will Waggott, former CFO of TUI, is chairman, and Darren Evans, former owner of Leisure Pass Group, and Matt Brooks are non-executive directors; CTO Rhodri Evans, founder of TigerBay IT, CEO Seamus Conlon, formerly MD of Airtours Holidays and founder of Cruise.co.uk and COO Laurence Hicks, formerly MD, Wendy Wu Tours.
