Chris Weller joins fintech SaaS platform Toqio
FinTech SaaS provider Toqio has appointed Chris Weller as commercial director UK and Europe. Weller is one of the latest senior hires to join the Toqio team, which has scaled from 17 to 71 in 2021. His appointment follows Alessandro Palma, who joined as chief financial officer.
Weller will use his strong background leading commercial teams across VC-backed startups, scaleups and established businesses across fintech and financial services, to lead growth for Toqio. Weller will oversee the sales and marketing team, grow Toqio in existing markets and expand across Europe, reporting to the CCO.
Toqio allows any business, not just banks, to launch embedded finance propositions to their business or consumer customers in a matter of days. It removes the need to build and manage complex software solutions through its SaaS platform and a marketplace of banking and fintech partners. Customers include Crealsa, Wamo and Just Cash Flow, and are based across Europe.

Formerly Weller was chief commercial officer at Allica Bank, one of the UK’s most recently licenced B2B banks. While Weller was CCO the team grew to 150. Prior to that, he was commercial director at Growthstreet and sales and marketing director at Geniac – where he worked closely with the co-founders who went on to found Toqio. Weller has also held senior roles with Aldermore, Lafarge Tarmac and GE Capital.
In addition to the appointment of Chris Weller, Toqio is welcoming Margarita de Gispert as partner accounts manager. She will lead the creation and development of Toqio’s banking and fintech partnerships. She joins from Mastercard where she worked across finance, strategy and business development from both London and Madrid, supporting local and global teams.
