Claire Cordell appointed as new chief financial officer at Aldermore
Aldermore, the specialist bank, has announced that Claire Cordell, its director of finance, will become its new chief financial officer and an executive director on its Board. This follows the decision of James Mack, the current CFO, to leave Aldermore after six years. James will become the new CFO at Barclays Bank (UK) PLC from 3 February 2020. Both appointments are subject to regulatory approval.
Claire joined Aldermore in March 2014 having previously held senior finance roles at RSA Insurance Group plc and with the Credit Suisse Group. Claire supported Aldermore through its IPO as director of investor relations and has taken on responsibility for the wider finance team in the Bank since September 2016. Claire is a chartered accountant with over 20 years’ experience in the financial services sector.
Phillip Monks, chief executive of Aldermore, said: “I’m delighted that Claire Cordell, will become our new CFO and an executive director on our Board. Claire is a highly experienced and immensely capable leader who was instrumental in supporting the Bank through our IPO and, subsequently, our acquisition by FirstRand. Claire has been with Aldermore for over 5 years and having done such a brilliant job leading our finance teams it’s an absolute pleasure to promote her from within.”
“James has made a very significant contribution to Aldermore over the past six years. He has worked tirelessly as our CFO to ensure the soundness of the Bank’s balance sheet and to place us in a great position to move forward with our ambitions over the next 5 years. I wish James every success for the future.”
