Clunky workplace AI is just as unpopular as the morning commute
Research from Multiverse finds that the majority of workers who currently use AI tools (52%) think that it does not save them time at work, or that it adds more time to their work than not using the technology.
These much-hyped tools are proving to be a burden with workers on the ground. Using clunky AI tools was rated just as unpopular with workers as taking public transport to work in the morning.
Over 4 in 10 workers (43%) in total have not used a form of AI at work at all.
Business bosses are failing to meet their employees’ expectations on AI, with half of those (49%) who use the tools agreeing that bosses ‘talk a good talk on AI’, but are not making their work easier.
The research finds that workers are not as prepared as they need to be to cope with the impact of AI. When asked if they have taken any steps to prevent their job from being replaced by AI, 43% of employees said they haven’t taken those steps, compared to just 15% who have.
It comes as tech startup Multiverse today launches new AI training to give workers the skills they need to thrive in the modern day workforce.
Multiverse’s new 13-month artificial intelligence apprenticeship programme will make apprentices proficient in generative AI and give workers the skills to unlock the benefits of the technology in their organisations. Apprentices will work on projects to bring AI into different areas of their business.
On the programme, apprentices will learn skills such as AI ethics and prompt engineering, and this comes as Multiverse launches a series of open-access short courses on artificial intelligence that are freely available to anyone wanting to develop their skills.
Multiverse has also unveiled taster modules in AI, offering a sample of the Multiverse learning experience to everyone. Through the Multiverse platform, anyone can develop skills in Prompt Engineering or AI ethics completely free, and in about an hour.
The new programmes launched by Multiverse aims to boost employees’ productivity, value, and satisfaction from using AI in the workplace.
Ujjwal Singh, chief product and technology officer at Multiverse, said: “The power of generative AI in everything from healthcare to financial services to the automotive industry is incredible – but only if employees know how to harness it. Right now, the gap between the saying and the doing, between the ambitions of leaders and the experience of workers, is vast.
“Through our 13-month AI apprenticeship, we’ll enable employees to become experts in this technology and actually bring real transformation into businesses.”
