Cohort Capital hires Robert Pritchard as head of capital markets
Specialist lender Cohort Capital has announced that Robert Pritchard has joined the firm as head of capital markets. He will be responsible for broadening the firm’s product offering and capital base in order to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the disrupted private debt market.
A significant hire for the private lender, Pritchard joins Cohort from LendInvest PLC where he was head of the firm’s fund management business – with assets under management in excess of £300m.
Prior to this, Pritchard held senior positions at CBRE Capital Advisors, where he led the deployment and management of capital on behalf of his institutional clients, and Barclays Bank, where he originated and structured over £700m of real estate backed loans for its corporate client base.
Robert joins Cohort as it continues its growth plan. Cohort’s loan originations were over £240m in 2022, bringing the total loan book to £325m – a record year for the business.
Bal Sohal, chairman of Cohort Capital, said: “We have spent the last four years deploying our private capital through a unique underwrite with an equity-based approach and building an origination platform. Through his extensive experience in the sector, Robert’s appointment will further strengthen our capital base whilst also rolling out a more diverse product set in the commercial real estate market, which we believe to be a very exciting space for private lenders in 2023.”
