Coverly set to accelerate growth with new appointments
Since launching in February, the pay-as-you-go insurance start-up has achieved significant growth and has been shortlisted for ‘Insurance Brand of the Year’ at the Insurance Post Creative and Innovation Awards 2020.
The business is set to continue its growth trajectory in 2020 with two new appointments.
Daniel Berry joins as underwriting and pricing director, bringing 15 years’ experience in insurance underwriting to the business. Daniel spent the past four years as head of underwriting at Aspen Risk Management Ltd. In 2010 Daniel co-founded AML Underwriting, a boutique managing general agent (MGA) specialising in commercial property and casualty insurance.
Daniel is responsible for building capacity in both the Lloyd’s and Company markets to give Coverly access to a broad range of classes and expertise.
Speaking of his appointment, Daniel commented: “Coverly is already changing how SMEs buy insurance by offering competitive products in an innovative and accessible way. I’m excited to join such an ambitious team and look forward to taking the business forward by building partnerships with capacity providers that understand our vision and support our product development plans.”
Jodi Cartwright, managing director of Coverly, said: “Since the launch of Coverly, we have proven there is a demand from UK SMEs for fast and flexible business insurance. We’re delighted to welcome Daniel to the team to support our strategy as we enter this exciting stage of growth. Daniel’s extensive underwriting experience and entrepreneurial skills will help grow our offering so we can meet the insurance needs of more small businesses.”
Sarah Joy joins Coverly with more than 20 years’ marketing experience within the start-up sector, having ran her own marketing consultancy. Prior to this, Sarah spent two years at InsurTech business REG (UK) where she increased revenue by 100% year-on-year. Previously, Sarah spent eight years at Collective London where she helped to grow the business into a leading marketing agency, working with leading brands including Honda, EA Games and BBC.
Sarah said: “Having run a small business I understand the challenges they face, so I’m thrilled to join a company that champions SMEs. Coverly is a true challenger business and is making a positive difference to SMEs and the insurance industry. I’m looking forward to working with the team to develop a plan that keeps the needs of our customers at the core of what we do.”
Speaking of Sarah’s appointment, Jodi added: “We are excited to welcome Sarah to the team, not only for her background in big brand marketing and start-up growth, but because she has first-hand experience of running a small business.
“To achieve our vision of being the trusted partner of choice for SMEs business insurance, it’s vital we understand exactly what our customers need. Sarah will ensure we keep our small business customers at the heart of our activities.”
