Digital Islamic bank Nomo brings Apple Pay to customers
Customers of Nomo, Bank of London and The Middle East’s (BLME) international digital Islamic bank, can make use of Apple Pay from today. As the next step for the innovative bank, which launched in July 2021, Apple Pay will help customers to pay in a safe and secure way, by using their phone as a contactless payment device.
Customers simply hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near a payment terminal to make a contactless payment. Every Apple Pay purchase is secure because it is authenticated with Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode, as well as a one-time unique dynamic security code.
Customers can also use Apple Pay on an iPhone, an iPad or a Mac to make faster and more convenient purchases in apps or online, through Safari, without having to create accounts or repeatedly type in shipping and billing information.
Sean Gilchrist, chief executive at Nomo said: “It has been an exhilarating first few months for Nomo. We’re keen to ensure that our products and services give our international customers the benefits of UK banking wherever they are in the world, and the integration of Apple Pay is the first in a series of upcoming developments for Nomo which will allow us to deliver on that commitment. There is much more to come over the next year as we continue to develop Nomo.”
Andrew Ball, chief executive at BLME said: “Having Apple Pay available to Nomo customers is a crucial next step in the digitisation of BLME. We launched Nomo to enable customers in the GCC to enjoy the benefits of a UK bank account in the knowledge that it also meets their Sharia’a principles. The integration of Apple Pay means that using that bank account will now be even easier than before.”
Apple Pay is easy to set up. On an iPhone, simply open the Wallet app, tap +, and follow the steps to add the Nomo debit card. Once a customer adds a card to their iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac, they can start using Apple Pay on that device right away.
