Directors more likely to be disqualified in this town
New data from Avid Panda, an award-winning marketing and research company, uncovers the towns and cities with disproportionately high numbers of disqualified directors.
Avid Panda analysed data from the Companies House disqualified director’s register to find out which cities and towns have the most directors disqualified by the courts, the Insolvency Service and the Competition and Markets Authority. In the UK, a company director can be disqualified for failing to meet their legal duties, such as allowing a company to trade while insolvent, not keeping proper financial records, not paying tax owed by the company or using company money or assets for personal benefit. This aims to protect both businesses and the public from irresponsible directors.
The team broke the data down by post town and then normalised the results per 100,000 residents. The city or town with the most disqualified directors per 100,000 residents was crowned as the area with the worst business practices.
The research revealed that although London is the area with the most disqualified directors (737), Waltham Cross, a town in Hertfordshire, has the most irresponsible directors per 100,000 residents (151).
Stanmore in Greater London comes in second, with 111 terrible directors per 100,000 residents. Orpington follows closely behind at 100.
Chigwell, a town and civil parish in the Epping Forest District of Essex, takes the fourth spot at 88 disqualified directors per 100,000 residents. Rounding off the top 5 is Cheadle, with 83 directors per 100,000 residents.
