Dmytro Makarov, a Kyiv-born entrepreneur now based in London, has established a marketing agency with more than 100 staff, who have managed global campaigns for household names including BMW, NIVEA, Domino’s, Intel, Hugo and Durex. From independent beginnings to global reach
Makarov started out by teaching himself esports and online marketing, gradually gaining experience in content production, digital strategy, influencer work and media buying. Today, his agency has completed over 524 projects with an estimated reach of 2.6 billion people worldwide.
Yet, he argues that results are not about sheer scale. “I do not believe in numbers for the sake of numbers; my focus is on efficiency, engagement and playing the long game,” he explains. “Supplements are not magic pills,” the entrepreneur notes. “They are only an addition to a healthy lifestyle, and even a ‘safe’ supplement can have side effects or be unnecessary.”
Alongside this, Dmytro Makarov employs daily cold showers, meditation and red-light therapy for recovery. Several of these practices have been introduced into his company culture, from group breathing sessions to mindfulness exercises. As he puts it, “It is not about fashion trends, it is about consciously managing both individual and team states.”
Technology and performance monitoring
In addition to lifestyle choices, Makarov places emphasis on health technology. Wearables and performance trackers are used within the agency to help staff understand and balance their workloads. He highlights three key measures: heart rate variability, sleep quality and strain levels.
“For me, the most valuable metrics are heart rate variability (HRV), sleep quality and strain levels. HRV offers insight into stress adaptation and recovery quality. Sleep quality and phase balance are especially essential when life runs at high speed. And monitoring strain levels helps balance work, training and rest,” says Dmytro Makarov.
His focus, he stresses, is not on strict monitoring but on maintaining sustainable energy levels. “It is not about obsessive monitoring, but about learning how your body responds so you can sustain performance over time,” he explains.
