Earlfield Lodge in Somerset sold to local care operator through Christie & Co
Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of Earlfield Lodge in Somerset.
Earlfield Lodge is a substantial, well-established residential care home comprising 65 bedrooms spread across four interconnecting period properties with purpose-built extensions. Each property provides for different categories of care; Bluebell provides high-end dementia care, Poppies provides residential care, Buttercup and Lilly provide residential and dementia care. The home also has a chapel and a detached bungalow to the rear.
The business is located in the popular coastal town of Weston-Super-Mare in Somerset. The four properties span 25-31 Trewartha Park, an attractive tree-lined road in a desirable residential suburb on the northern slopes of the town, and benefit from an elevated position with sea views.
Earlfield Lodge has been a family run business for the past 50 years and has traditionally traded with high occupancy and an excellent reputation. Co-Owner, Mrs Carol Hinks, comments, “We were sad to say goodbye to Earlfield which has been in the family since we were small children, but very glad that it is now in the hands of an experienced and dedicated provider who will carry forward the vision.”
The home has been purchased local operator, Mr Rizwan Govindji. This is Mr Govindji’s second care home purchase through Christie & Co, the first being Tilsley House in Weston-Super-Mare. He comments, “I am delighted to have completed on Earlfield Lodge, a home that has an incredible history and legacy over the past half a century under the care of the Butcher family. Our task as stakeholders is to continue to build on the history of Earlfield Lodge, and I will do everything I can to support in the endeavour to develop a ‘Cathedral of Care’ here; a place that serves the local community and which we can all be proud of.”
Oliver McCarthy, associate director at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, comments, “Earlfield Lodge is a very desirable, well performing care home and I’m really pleased to have had the opportunity to sell it on behalf of sisters, Carol and Gillian. The sale wasn’t without its challenges, but all parties pulled together to get it across the line. I look forward to hearing about the home’s future success under the ownership of Rizwan.”
Heather Jones and Ciaran Keane of Wards Solicitors acted on behalf of the sellers.
Earlfield Lodge was sold at an undisclosed price.
