Flint Bishop lands banking and finance litigation heavyweight as demand surges
National UK law firm Flint Bishop has made a headline-grabbing addition to its disputes bench with the appointment of banking and finance litigation specialist Zarvin Vandrewala as partner and joint head of finance dispute resolution.
The Leeds-based hire marks a clear statement of intent from the firm as it accelerates the expansion of its banking and finance recoveries practice, amid sustained demand from major lenders and financial institutions.
Vandrewala joins from Aberdein Considine, where he was a partner advising financial services clients on a wide spectrum of contentious matters. He brings more than 14 years’ experience acting for banks, financial institutions and commercial organisations on complex, large-scale litigation.
In his new role, he will take operational leadership of the team, working alongside joint head Kate Hicks to drive delivery, scale the practice and support continued client growth nationwide.
His appointment follows a career spanning private practice and senior in-house operational leadership roles, including positions at Ascent Performance Group and BW Legal. He trained at Irwin Mitchell, qualifying in 2012.
Widely recognised for his ability to lead high-performing teams and execute litigation strategies at scale, Vandrewala combines deep technical expertise with a strong focus on operational efficiency, client service and talent development—an increasingly critical mix as firms look to industrialise aspects of volume and complex disputes work.
Flint Bishop has been investing heavily in its financial services disputes offering, with Vandrewala’s arrival seen as a strategic move to strengthen its leadership capability and delivery infrastructure as it pushes for further market share in the sector.

Commenting on his move, Vandrewala said: “Flint Bishop’s ambition, projected growth and clear vision for the future were key factors in my decision to join the firm. The investment in innovation, technology and people is impressive, and it’s clear the business has strong momentum.
“Throughout my career, one of the most rewarding aspects of my role has been supporting colleagues to develop their skills, progress their careers and achieve their personal ambitions. I’m looking forward to working with Kate and the wider team as we continue to build on this success, while creating opportunities for our people to grow and thrive.”
Chief executive Qamer Ghafoor described the appointment as a major coup for the firm, reinforcing its position as a go-to legal adviser for banks and financial institutions across the UK.
“Zarvin is a standout addition to the business. His experience of leading teams, combined with his operational and strategic expertise, will be instrumental as we continue to scale our finance litigation offering and meet increasing client demand,” he said.
The move underlines Flint Bishop’s broader growth strategy in Leeds and across its national platform, as it continues to deepen its financial services capability and invest in senior talent to support long-term expansion.
