Former day nursery with owner’s accommodation in Alford is on the market through Christie & Co
Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has brought to market a former children’s day nursery in Alford, Aberdeenshire.
Established over 25 years ago, this former day nursery, previously operating as Alford Day Nursery, comprises a nursery with effective operating capacity for 30 children aged zero to five-years-old, and a lovely four-bed owner’s accommodation attached.
The nursery had a great reputation for providing good quality childcare and offers the new owner(s) the opportunity to re-establish this whilst also acquiring a good family home which could either be used as such or could be turned into alternative childcare services.
The business is situated on the main street in Alford, a swiftly growing rural village nestled in the splendour of the Aberdeenshire countryside with a population in the region of 2,500. The village offers excellent primary and secondary schools, various shops and cafes, supermarket, sports pitches, a dry ski slope and many more leisure facilities. There are also great parks and country walks and the famous Alford Transport Museum.
The nursery’s current owner, Mrs Tanya Tough, purchased the business in 2009 and has since grown its reputation and invested significantly in both the nursery and owner’s accommodation. Due to a change in family circumstances, she has taken the decision to close the nursery and sell the property.
Mrs Tough comments, “We’ve owned Alford Day Nursery for over 10 years now and have loved seeing it grow and flourish. As my husband is now near retirement age and my children are close to finishing at their Academy school, we feel this is the right time for us to pass on the business to a new owner.”
Rosie Adlem, director at Christie & Co, who is handling the sale, comments, “The former Alford Day Nursery offers its new owner an exceptional opportunity to either re-establish a lovely nursery or even explore the possibility of providing alternative childcare services. The added element of the private house would offer a new owner great on-site accommodation or provide scope for expansion of the business premises. With the growth of the looked-after children’s market, we also expect a high degree of interest from experienced operators of children’s homes.”
Alford Day Nursery is on the market for an asking price of £400,000.
