Former small firms’ commissioner joins Forum of Private Business Board
Paul Uppal, the government’s small firms’ commissioner from 2017 to 2019, who was credited with making giant strides towards ensuring fair payment practices for small businesses and supporting them in resolving payment disputes with larger firms, has joined the board of the Forum of Private Business as a non-executive director.
With experience from being a member of parliament for his Midlands constituency, and from being a business owner in his own right he is seen as a valuable addition to the Forum board at precisely the time that advice and support for businesses will be in great demand.
Managing director of the Forum of Private Business, Ian Cass welcomed Paul Uppal onto the board, saying, ‘Paul has an outstanding business background with an absolute commitment to help improve the environment in which businesses can prosper. He will be a valuable addition to the Forum Board.’
On joining the Board, Paul Uppal added, ‘With SMEs coming out of lockdown and leaving the EU this is going to be an unusual time and I hope to bring my professional and 20 years’ personal SME experience to the fore in supporting the executive team at the Forum.’
