Growthdeck launches new advisory board to boost portfolio businesses’ growth plans
Growthdeck, the private equity investment firm, has launched a new advisory board to provide input and guidance to the firm’s portfolio businesses and to assist their growth plans.
Through the creation of the board, Growthdeck’s portfolio businesses will now have access to a team of experienced business leaders who have a track record of leading businesses through successful expansions and exits.
Growthdeck says that the advisory board will be of particular benefit to portfolio businesses as they deal with new challenges as we come out of the current pandemic.
Douglas Jack has been announced as the board’s new chairman. Douglas is currently a leisure analyst at investment bank Peel Hunt and is ranked as the UK’s leading travel and leisure analyst by Institutional Investor and Starmine. Douglas previously worked at merchant bank Panmure Gordon and investment bank Numis before joining Peel Hunt. He has worked on numerous M&A and IPO transactions throughout his career and has many of the UK’s leading leisure companies as clients.
As well as providing advice and strategic input to portfolio businesses through taking non-executive director positions, each of the eleven board members will use their direct experience in their respective sectors to advise Growthdeck on potential future investments.
The board is made up of individuals who have extensive experience of founding and leading successful businesses. The board has experience spanning across sectors including travel, leisure, technology, engineering, retail, fashion, sport and digital marketing.
Nick Basing, a high profile figure in the leisure sector, has joined Douglas on the board as deputy chairman. Nick is the outgoing chairman of Ten Entertainment Group Plc, one of the UK’s leading operators of ten pin bowling centres.
Nick was previously the CEO of Essenden plc and Paramount Holdings, and before that held leadership roles in Unilever, Granada, Rank Group, First Leisure and Goodwood Group. He has previously been a non-executive director of Elegant Hotels plc, Brakes Group and on the board of directors for “Wimbledon” (the All England Club).
Gary Robins, head of business development at Growthdeck, says: “I am delighted to announce the creation of our new advisory board. Having Douglas and Nick on board right from the off is a huge coup for Growthdeck. They are both highly experienced operators with a first class track record of driving businesses to growth.”
Douglas Jack comments: “I am delighted to be chairing this new advisory board. We have attracted some exceptional individuals to the board and we are all looking forward to adding value to Growthdeck and the growth companies which we support.”
Growthdeck will be announcing the further nine members of the advisory board in the near future.
