How to boost your PC? By upgrading your hardware (SSD hard drive and RAM)
Migrate Windows 10 to an SSD hard drive for better performance
This is my best advice to boost Windows 10 and make your Laptop, Computer or PC more efficient. Replacing your classic hard drive (mechanical hard drive called HDD in English) with the latest generation SSD hard drive will greatly speed up your computer in all its uses, including during start-up. Indeed, SSDs are much more efficient thanks to reading and write times on the SSD much faster!
Previously the performance of PCs was constrained by the slowness of conventional hard drives, this time is now over! You will see a huge difference in the use of your PC which will thus find a second youth, its performance will be really improved.
For example, before replacing my classic hard drive with an SSD, my PC took 2/3 minutes to boot. And even when the Windows session was open, I usually had time to make myself a coffee before I could open my programs. Now it starts up in less than 30 seconds and I can directly open programs as soon as the computer starts up.
It’s a convenience that is priceless… An SSD is certainly more expensive than a conventional HDD hard drive, but the result is well worth it! transfer Windows 10 to SSD if you want to get started, you won’t be disappointed with the result!
Finally, it should be noted that there are different types of SSD disks that are more or less efficient (NVMe, SATA, M.2 etc.). If you find it difficult to understand, feel free to speak to our partner based in London or Oxford.
Add random access memory (RAM)
Speed up Microsoft Windows or Apple Mac laptops or computers by adding a RAM bar to the PC’s motherboard
Like the previous tip, we are not here in the simple tuning of Windows 10 but rather in adding components that will boost your computer. The part referred to as RAM for Random Access Memory is a key element of any computing device. It is in fact the memory where the information in use is stored. The more RAM you have, the faster your device will run.
You need at least 2 GB to run Windows 10 in the 32-bit version and 3 GB for the 64-bit version. If you’re not sure which version of Windows 10 you have, right-click on the “This PC” icon and check the information section if you’re using 32-bit Windows or 64-bit Windows. But that is not enough to have a competitive PC. You will need at least 4 GB or even 8 GB of RAM for Windows to run quickly.
Afterwards, the amount of RAM required will also depend on your use of your computer: you will need less memory if you only have office use (surfing the internet, using Word / Excel or an alternative to MS Office suite ) only if you are using video/photo editing software or if you are playing recent video games which are greedy in machine resources.
Likewise, some free antiviruses can use a lot of RAM and slow down your computer.
