With so many social media channels now, however, planning a rock-solid social media marketing strategy can be tricky.
To help, we’ve put together some simple steps to help you put together a social media marketing strategy in no time at all.
1. Audit your current social media presence
To start, you’d want to go ahead and audit all of your existing social media platforms so you’re able to see the type of content that you’re currently posting and whether or not it’s effective.
Make sure you’re also taking a look at how frequently you’re posting, how consistent it is and whether or not your posts are compelling. Make sure that your content is ultimately taking individuals back to your site or products and that your content is also inviting discussion and adding value.
2. Set S.M.A.R.T goals
You’ll have to go ahead and set goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-Bound.
3. Define your target audience
The content you’re producing should resonate with your target audience or followers. Make sure that you’re accurately identifying your target audience or customer and see if your current content is appealing to them.
4. Create a social media content calendar
Once you’ve determined how many times you’d like to go about posting on your social media channels, it’s time to go ahead and plan out a robust content calendar. By doing so you’ll not only be able to track the posts that are going out, but you’ll also be able to see how often you’re posting.
5. Create an engagement playbook
It’s important that you’ve got an engagement playbook as it lays out a specific way to engage with a range of individuals from employees to influencers. You can have it be as large and as detailed as you’d like, and you’re more than welcome to also craft standard responses in there.
In addition, the engagement playbook can also incorporate marketing goals along with tone of voice.

While organic social media can help with driving engagement and increasing followers, paid social can help with taking it to the next level. By setting aside a specific amount of money, you’ll be able to apply that budget towards your social media tools and hit marketing goals.
Doing so means that you’ll have a budget not only for running social media ads but also potentially for outside marketing firms to assist you, influencer marketing, and other strategies that can aid with increasing your audience.
7. Track your results
Last but not least, it’s important for you to track your results. By tracking your results, you’ll be able to further optimise your social media strategy and take it to greater heights. Tracking your results also enables you to see if your social media strategy is working, or if you need to rework your overall strategy.
