Impressive Cornwall care home sold to Jammac Ltd
Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced St Clair House care home in Camborne, Cornwall.
St Clair House occupies an impressive, detached, former gentleman’s residence and one of the most prominent buildings in its area. It has been the subject of considerable renovation, improvement and extension by the previous owners and now provides high-quality accommodation for up to 25 elderly clients in 23 bedrooms. The gardens at the rear of the home are a true feature and a significant attraction for many residents.
The home is located close to the town centre of Camborne, Cornwall, and sits adjacent to two GP surgeries and several pharmacies. The north Cornish coastline, with its dramatic scenery and beaches, is within driving distance, and the county’s only city and main business centre, Truro, is some 14 miles away.
St Clair House has been owned by Mr Dave and Mrs Bev Maund since 2003. During this time, they established the business as the principal care home in the town and have enjoyed consistently high occupancy and average fee growth. They recently decided to sell to enable them to semi-retire and pursue other business interests.
The business has been purchased by Mr Mike and Mrs Christine Westmore of Jammac Ltd, a group comprising five care homes in the area, who plan to further improve and extend the home.
Mr Dave Maund comments, “It has been a pleasure and privilege to look after this landmark building and its residents within for the past two decades. Both Bev and I wish Mike and Christine well with this new addition to their group.”
Mr and Mrs Westmore comment, “We are really excited to be taking over St Clair House and hope to continue the good work of providing excellent care for all the residents there.”
Simon Harvey, senior director – healthcare at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, comments, “We are delighted to have acted for Dave and Bev and to have achieved a sale to a well-regarded and experienced operator. We wish the Westmore family well for the future with St Clair House and their other homes.
“This sale is yet more evidence of the strong appetite that exists for high-quality, well run and profitable care homes in the South West as we have been able to generate interest from a wide range of buyer types. Despite ongoing challenges facing the sector, the resilience, strength, and commitment of those involved is so admirable and we hope that, as we move further into 2022, times will get easier for care operators across the country.”
St Clair House was sold for an undisclosed price.
