Is the medical industry bleeding money with no results to show?

One of the industries that is under the most pressure right now is the medical industry. Nobody is disputing that the members of this industry are trying their best, but is it enough right now? There is so much going on, and there is so much money being pumped into this industry without any massive results being produced from it. Facts are facts, and it would appear that they are stacked against this industry at the moment.
New strands Of COVID
There seems to be a new variant of COVID-19 every couple of months, the latest being discovered only a couple of days ago. The new variant, Omicron, has been said to be resistant to the COVID vaccine that people have been receiving for the last few months. This, of course, doesn’t mean that people that are vaccinated are no longer protected from the variants that were around when the vaccine was developed.
The vaccine was a controversial topic anyway, and still is among a lot of people. But, people are now questioning the point of having the vaccines if they are not fully protected. In the UK, all over 18’s are to be offered the booster jab, while under 18s are to be offered a second dose. However, if it is not as effective against this variant, why are the measures being taken to roll this out instead of researching help for the new variant?
Medications that are causing more problems
Not all medication is perfect, everyone knows that. Most of them have some kind of side effects, but they are very rarely severe or life threatening in any way. However, there are some medications that were released to the public, even though they had some devastating potential impacts. There were a large number of people who were diagnosed with cancer after taking Zantac, which further weakened the public’s opinion of those in the medical industry who knew about these effects.
Of course, it’s not fair to blame the entire industry for this, but it’s something that has scared people, understandably so. Mistakes are always going to be made, it’s true, but this is a little more than a simple mistake in which no one was hurt.
Improvements are happening
Though this is true, there are improvements happening all the time. There are new medicines that have been thoroughly tested and are genuinely helpful with only mild side effects being rolled out. There is continuous research going on all the time, but some are just worried about the rate of progress against the time frame in which it is needed.
Hopefully now, you see some of the problems with the fact that the medical industry appears to be bleeding money with barely any results to show for it. Right now, we need to see some returns on the investments that are being put into the medical industry or people might start losing faith pretty soon. The improvements are good, but it’s time to wonder if they are good enough for what we need.
