KPMG strengthens its SME offering with strategic partnership with Xero Limited
KPMG in the UK today announced a strategic partnership with Xero Limited, one of the UK’s leading on-line accounting software providers which will enable the firm to link its own technology and expertise to provide select online accounting and tax services, such as accounts, bookkeeping, payroll, VAT and corporate tax to small and medium sized enterprises using the cloud.
This is part of a programme of strategic partnerships by KPMG aimed at supporting the SME sector and follows the opening of a permanent KPMG representation in Tech City; a series of digital alliances including the partnership with Chelsea Apps Factory announced in January and support of the Indian Angel Network.
Simon Collins, UK chairman of KPMG, commented: “Today’s partnership further demonstrates our commitment to small and early stage businesses that form the backbone of the UK economy and its future growth. Xero is an impressive software platform, supporting delivery of our services to this segment where technology is increasingly transforming the way we do business.”
Xero UK managing director Gary Turner says, “It is very gratifying that an organisation of KPMG’s standing in the market selected Xero to be one of its technology platform partners for their on-line services, confirming our belief that cloud accounting is fast becoming an important platform for both accounting firms and small businesses.”
Interested businesses will be able to sign up to the KPMG services from May.
The strategic alliance will see both KPMG and Xero jointly target the UK SME market. No consideration has been paid and the deal does not include any equity stake.
