Leading Malaysian finance professional becomes ACCA deputy president
A practicing accountant who has played a leading role in the development of the finance profession in the Malaysian state of Sabah has become deputy president of global accountancy body ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).
Datin Alexandra Chin JP was appointed ACCA deputy president at the Annual General Meeting of ACCA in London on 18 September and is set to become President of the global body for professional accountants in 12 months.
Alexandra Chin has been a member of ACCA’s council since 2005. Prior to her election to council, she was an international assembly member representing Malaysia and was president of ACCA Sabah from 1999 to 2005.
She has been chairman of ACCA’s qualifications committee and is currently a member of the market oversight committee.
Besides ACCA, Alexandra Chin has also been actively involved in various professional bodies and community organisations in Sabah. These include the Malaysian Institute of accountants (Sabah Branch) and the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (CTIM) Sabah Branch. She has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Sabah Park and a Board Member of Sabah Sports Board.
Presently Alexandra is a board member of the Sabah Tourism Board. She was appointed a Justice of the Peace in 2009.
