Longest range EVs on the market
Recently there has been a recent boom in the amount of EVs on the market, with nearly all major auto manufacturers now investing in creating a range of EVS – from Alfa Romeo to Citroen. The move towards EVs comes from government plans to ban all new sales of combustion engine cars by 2030.
As demand increases, some of the reasons why people were put off previously purchasing an EV are being addressed.
For example, individuals have often been deterred from EVS over their limited mile range and concerns about finding a charging point when the battery runs low.
However, an inevitable move to EVs and Hybrids in the next decade has prompted plans to vastly improve infrastructure that will support the use of EVS – e.g., widely available and faster charging points.
Additionally, a 2016 study shows that 83% of respondents stated that cost was the most important factor when purchasing a vehicle. With EVs being associated with high end models such as the Tesla, many have disregarded them in the past due to their price.
Again, with increased demand, many companies are now offering electric personal car lease deals to make EVs more affordable and accessible.
However, if range is still one of your biggest concerns, there are now a whole host of EVs which offer impressive mileage.
Tesla Model S (405 miles)
The Tesla Model S has been named the EV with the longest range available on the market with an impressive total of 405 miles. With a maximum speed of 155mph and an acceleration of 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds, you won’t ever have to worry about getting somewhere on time.
You can charge your Model S with a standard 3 pin plug; however, this can be particularly time consuming so Tesla recommend getting wall charger installed in your home to speed up charging time.
If you concerned about getting caught out in the middle of nowhere with a low battery – fear not! Tesla have an extensive network of superfast chargers all over the UK which can charge your vehicle to 80% in just 42 minutes – the perfect amount of time for a rest and food break!
BMW iX – 380 miles
The BMW iX comes in two models, the higher specification being the xDrive50 and the lower specification being the xDrive40.
The former has a combined range of 380 miles, accelerates from 0-60mph in 4.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 124mph. This is excellent for long-range driving and comes in slightly cheaper than the Model S Plaid from Tesla.
The latter has less range at a total of 257 miles, however the model is still particularly speedy!
Mustang Mach-E – 379 miles
Ford’s Mustang Mach-E doesn’t boast of the same performance features as the models listed above. However, it still has an impressive range of 379 miles and a large battery which can charge up to 150kW.
This model is great if you are looking for value for money as it is considerably cheaper than its competitors. It is also very spacious inside, making it extremely practical and suitable for family life.
Before purchasing your first EV, it’s important to assess which factors are important to you. Do your research before taking the leap and you will be more satisfied with your investment.
