New research reveals Bristol is UK’s best city to launch a business
Research released today by marketing agency Yours Sincerely looked at a number of factors critical for starting a business across Britain’s major cities – and the data shows that Bristol is currently the best city to start a business in the UK.
The factors monitored, included – cost per desk, average internet connection speed, time to get into London by train and number of startups per person in region. For most fledgling businesses, the first six months can make or break the future success of the business, location is a key factor to this. Start-up costs, such as venturing into a new office space, can be a huge initial overhead – so with Bristol desk space ranking 56% cheaper than London, the appeal is clear.
With over 27 starts-ups for every 1000 people, Bristol is a hugely entrepreneurial city. Only Edinburgh, Leicester and London had a greater concentration of new businesses, although all three cities failed to stack up when taking all the factors into consideration.
Businesses regularly rate fast and reliable broadband connections as an essential factor for running a business. When looking at average speeds, Bristol topped the chart with an average download speed of 33Mb – particularly beneficial for tech and digital businesses. Dominic Baliszewski, founder and director of Yours Sincerely said: “This research confirms what we’ve known all along, that Bristol is an absolutely fantastic place to start a business. Bristol already has a brilliant creative vibe, a raft of amazing businesses and a fantastic sense of community – now it has yet another thing to be proud of.
“We’re delighted to be starting a new PR and marketing agency, Yours Sincerely, in Bristol and are looking forward to working with some of the UK’s most dynamic businesses, so many of whom are based in the area!”
