Despite the impact of the pandemic across many sectors, Huddersfield-based recruitment business, Major Recruitment, continues to grow. During the pandemic, the business has focused on sectors that have experienced increased demand for permanent and temporary staff, including ecommerce, healthcare, food, logistics, pharma and life sciences.
After five years of strong growth, Major Recruitment recently celebrated the opening of a new office in Leicester – its 86th site in the UK, Norwich and today (12 April) opens a new office in Sittingbourne, Kent. The business has ambitious plans to open 15 additional offices in the next three years. However, this impressive growth and restructuring of the business into an equity partner model had made financial management more complex. The business switched to its new banking partner, Santander UK, which has provided an aggregated £7.25m invoice finance facility across all entities. The facility has simplified the company’s financial management and reporting by combining 18 facilities into a single limit, and with the addition of Santander’s credit protection product the management team now has peace of mind against higher debtor exposures.
Phil Bottomley, managing director at Major Recruitment, said: “Santander is progressive and very much open for business. We have found it to be a breath of fresh air. The team respond quickly and there is a real ‘personal touch’, which for us as a recruitment business is important. We are delighted to be with such a forward-thinking and supportive bank.”
Pulin Trivedi, invoice finance specialist at Santander UK, commented: “Major Recruitment continues to deliver impressive growth. We’re delighted that we have been chosen as its banking partner and to have provided a bespoke invoice finance facility. We took the time necessary to understand its business model and developed a strong relationship with its management team. We look forward to supporting its strategic aims, both now and in the future.”
Major Recruitment was established in 2008 with its origins dating back to 1992. Its head office is based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire and it has 25 branches across the UK. The business supplies temporary and permanent staff to a wide range of industries and sectors throughout the UK.
