Scottish training and development business secures contracts with Specsavers and the NHS after accessing Business Gateway support
A Scottish training and development business has secured two contracts with Specsavers and the NHS after its founder accessed support from Business Gateway.
After over 30 years in the NHS working with people at their most challenged, Michael Griffiths, a qualified mental health nurse and psychological therapist, saw the same pattern of great talent trapped by outdated habits, low resilience and misaligned behaviours. He founded Bonmotus in 2022 to turn that around, determined to equip organisations and individuals to act with purpose, adapt under pressure and deliver lasting performance.
Michael took all the benefits and evidence of the therapy model he worked with in the NHS and repurposed this into training. Since launching, Bonmotus has delivered practical, evidence-based training that strengthens the psychological and behavioural skills behind sustained high performance.
The business recently secured two contracts with Specsavers and NHS Forth Valley, allowing Michael to help strengthen performance in high-pressure retail and clinical environments, helping staff improve focus, resilience and decision-making under demand.
Michael has worked with Business Gateway over the last few years, receiving one-to-one support from a dedicated business adviser, as well as advice on his business plan and marketing opportunities.
Through Business Gateway outreach support, which was funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Michael was signposted to EH support from Gavin Howie, which helped to gain clarity and understanding around financial planning, pricing strategy and financial support software.
Michael also made use of Business Gateway’s range of webinars, including writing a business plan, digital marketing strategy and using social media platforms such as Facebook and LinkedIn for business.
