Small business confidence at highest level for a year
Damon Walford, chief development officer, ThinCats, said:
“Despite the challenges of rising inflation and higher supply costs, the UK’s SME owners are expressing more confidence about the future than they were six months ago. This is especially the case with small exporters, which are benefitting from UK goods and services becoming more competitive overseas thanks to the weaker pound.
“What I’d like to see in 2017 is this pick-up in confidence translate into small businesses boosting their headcount and pushing ahead with expansion plans, without fear of the uncertainties surrounding the UK’s departure from the EU. For this to happen, many will need funding and it’s up to mainstream lenders and alternative finance providers to do what they can to make funding more accessible to the thousands of worthy businesses looking to grow.”
