South West accounting firm appoints industry leading tax partner
Leading South West accountancy firm, Monahans, has appointed Steph Parker as its newest tax partner.
Steph, who joined Monahans on 3 August, is one of the best in her field, ranking as ‘Top Recommended’ in the index of Accountants and Tax Advisers in Spears 500, the leading guide to the top private client advisers.
She brings with her more than 30 years’ experience in London and Kent firms where she led private client teams and advised clients on all manner of tax planning from trusts to making businesses fit for sale. Most recently, she was head of the Personal Tax and Trust Team at Macfarlanes, where she advised high-net-worth individuals, families and entrepreneurs on complex tax and succession planning matters.
Beyond her role, Steph says it’s actually about “taking the fear out of tax” to help people feel more in control of their futures.
She said: “I build long-term relationships with my clients and provide rounded practical advice based on their individual circumstances and goals. I particularly like working with clients who are considering how they manage their legacy and supporting families through inter-generational transfers where financial considerations co-exist with the natural emotional aspects of long-term planning.”
Steph is a Fellow of the ICAEW, a full member of STEP (the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) and an ICAEW Probate Practitioner.
She added: “One of my strengths is taking the time to explain to clients very complex tax matters – something which I know is appreciated by clients to help them make really important decisions that affect them and their families.”

Outside work, Steph enjoys switching off through creative pursuits including watercolour painting, pottery and cooking. She loves learning new skills and firmly believes you’re never too old to try something new.
Simon Tombs, Monahans’ managing partner, said: “It gives me great pleasure to welcome Steph to the team. Her appointment reflects our ongoing commitment to investing in exceptional talent and providing the highest level of advice and support to our clients. Steph brings a wealth of technical expertise and commercial insight, which will be invaluable as we continue to grow and help businesses and individuals navigate an increasingly complex tax landscape.”
