Start-up cities: Best places in the world to open a business
65% of UK employees wish to start their own business, with on average 22,000 Google searches a month for “how to start a business”.
But where in the world is the best place for budding entrepreneurs to take on such a challenge?
With this in mind, online language platform Preply has revealed the best cities around the world to start a business in by using data from LinkedIn to discover how many entrepreneurs live in each city.
Let’s take a look at the results!
Coming in at number one as the best city to start a business in is Paris, France with 21,000 entrepreneurs living in the city! It’s no surprise that Paris is home to some of the biggest fashion brands in the world.
Some brands that originated from the French capital include Louis Vuitton, Chanel and L’Oreal.
London, UK takes second place, with 20,000 entrepreneurs in the city, according to LinkedIn. HSBC, Burberry, and BP are some famous brands which were founded in London.

With a population of over 26 million, it’s no surprise that the New Delhi, India is home to 19,000 entrepreneurs, taking third place.
Also on the list includes Madrid, Spain, Washington, USA and Berlin, Germany.
